Vintage Morton Salt When It Rains It Pours Creamer Sugar Set Umbrella Girl
morton
Vintage Morton Salt When It Rains It Pours creamer and lidded sugar set featuring the iconic umbrella girl in cobalt blue against cream stoneware. The Morton Salt umbrella girl debuted in 1914 when Morton solved the caking problem in salt and needed to advertise that their salt poured freely even in humid weather. N.W. Ayer & Son proposed the slogan 'When It Rains It Pours' and the little girl with an open umbrella spilling salt behind her, one of the longest running trademarks in American advertising. She's been redrawn six times since, most recently in 1968. This creamer and sugar set puts her in full sprint around the pot. Sugar bowl still has its lid.
